For those of you who read my book, Happiness is a Cool Reactor, you know that I was raised on a farm. It was, at one time early in the 20th century, a fantastic place. It was known as Circle W and was located in Geauga County, Ohio. I didn’t know how fantastic it was until, as part of my genealogical activities, I researched and wrote a booklet about it.
Although I lived on it during my young life and early teens, I had no idea of how amazing the place had been until I discovered its history. The farm was established by Walter White, a wealthy industrialist who manufactured vehicles for use by the military in World War I, among other money-making endeavors. It consisted of over a thousand acres of land and had the White mansion, a large horse stable and polo field, numerous farm animals, large fields of various crops, and several barns, including one that cost over a million dollars to build in 1912. Although Mr. White died before I moved onto the farm, most of what I just described was still in use during my time there.
If you would like to read more about Circle W and the early years in my life, you can read the booklet I just mentioned since I attached it to my biography page on my website gjreed.com. Just open up my website and click on the menu button at the top right of the main page. Then click on the biography item on the menu. Scroll down towards the bottom of that page and you will find a link to an Adobe pdf file that contains my booklet on my memories of Circle W Farm. Enjoy!!
