Thank goodness we have scientists and engineers who take life seriously

When I watch the news services reports about what is supposed to be happening in the world, I find that it more and more is based on non-important aspects of life.  Lately it has been running the gamut from people throwing objects at concerts, supposed Hollywood stars getting married (or divorced), young women scantily clad in public, household items you can buy at a supposed bargain, to new ways to cook various things, etc.  This is not news to me.  The majority of news today seems to be about things that people already receive from other sources or that to me should be common sense.  In essence the major news outlets have changed their format to steal subjects from other popular shows in an attempt to boost their ratings and thus appear to be pandering to the uneducated in our society.  The news more and more focuses on things that just don’t matter.  Once in a while they provide a good expose’ on an important issue, but it is rare when they do.  I’ve gotten to the point that I simply turn the news off because it has become such a waste of time to watch it.  Instead, I’ve turned to reading information from alternative sources to get my news.  For example, how many of you have heard from the news media that the Russians are landing a rover on the moon in the coming days?  According to one of my sources called “Interesting Engineering”, Russia has launched a moon rover that will land on the moon in the next week or so in that country’s first mission to the moon since 1976.  They plan to land the device on the lunar south pole and search for ice – which would be a source of water, oxygen and even rocket fuel.  They were supposed to have a camera on board provided by the European Space Agency, but because of Putin’s attack on Ukraine, the ESA cancelled their support of this project.  Regardless, Russia continued with the launch and their rover is on its way to the moon.  Other examples of important news have been recent breakthroughs in nuclear fusion technology and in storage battery technology, both of which have tremendous potential for changing the future in the way we live.  These are refreshing signs to me that there still are people that think about and continue to work on things that matter . . . that don’t waste their time worrying about whether some singer is coming out with a new album soon . . . that support the future of our world and the ability of the human race to survive on it.   They are making real news that should be reported on, but since it requires people to think about it in order to realize how important it is, the news media won’t cover it.  Thank goodness there truly are people that want to make a real difference in life and that do not want to waste the time that they have been given on this earth.  I’m also thankful that they have found a way to be given the chance to do what they do without having to worry about their TV ratings or how many likes they get on social media.  I say “three cheers for our scientists and engineers!!”  In my opinion, they should be the ones in the news, not the pop singers, Hollywood stars, and social media influencers that are the ones being constantly talked about.   Report on them on shows like “Inside Edition” or “Access Hollywood” and let the news shows be about real news, since without the breaking news our scientists and engineers are making, humankind would not have much of a future.
